Asus P5n Sli Driver For Mac
In 15 years of building my own equipment I've never had one stump me - till now. There is something that my ASUS P5nE-SLI mobo and Win 7 64 SP1 can't agree on. Either using the on board nVidia 650i chipset ethernet port OR turning that off and using an add on NetGear 1Gb network card my speedtest.net download speeds are like.5 Mbs for either ethernet port and my upload @ 6 Mbs ( yes, upload is 12 times faster ). So whatever it is is only effecting the upload speeds. Now I have a dual boot btwn XP pro and the W7 64 and when I'm running the XP my downloads are screaming at 35 Mb when I'm only paying for 15 Mbs with Cox cable so that eliminates any problems with the router, modem ( Motorola doc sys 3 ) or anything else hardware wise if XP Pro runs just fine.
Now what makes this even spookier is I have an old Compaq laptop running W7 64 32 hard wired to the same router and also screams at 35 Mbs so it isn't ALL mobo's that this problem surfaces in. So for the heck of it I added a new drive with a fresh install of W7 64 on a new drive tried again - same result even with a bare install of W7 64 and nothing else - figuring it might have something to do with 32 vs 64 bit I tore off the 64 b install and redid with W7 32b - same result. I also tried it with W7 64 original as well as W7 64 SP1 - again no change. Then I noticed the ethernet driver was a default windows 7-64 driver so I downloaded the appropriate nVidia ethernet driver - again, no effect. As a last hope I went to ASUS and downloaded the latest mobo BIOS @ rev 1406 - once again no change.
For the heck of it I rebooted in safe mode with only network drivers and to make this even more convoluted the first speed test ran at the 30 Mbs number but all attempts at a retest reverted back to the.5Mbs number. I called up Cox and asked them if any history - support answer - 'never heard of it' but they sent out service tech to check all lines. Imagine my surprise when I was explaining what I found and before I was halfway through the tech says ' and Windows 7 won't connect at the correct speed - yea, my own pc at home has that problem and nobody can figure it out.'
Even the ISP is stumped on this one. Now what makes this even more insane is when I first added W 7 64 original ( rev 0 ) it worked like a rocket for a year - it was only a month ago I began to notice it slowing down - thinking maybe I added something that was stepping on the ethernet driver was why I loaded a fresh drive with nothing but fresh install of W7 64 to eliminate that possibility ( which apparently wasn't the case ). So I am all out of ideas and want to see if anybody has either experienced or heard of this. Yes, I am having a hard time with my nVidia controller on an ASUS P5NE-SLI board - Windows 7 64-bit. Brother mfc-410cn drivers for mac. An update or an unreported IRQ issue - or perhaps its the installation of a PCIE X1 USB 3.0 controller aor any adapter I plug into that slot confuses or conflicts with the onboard network adapter. I can get the driver to behave via the DEvice Manager.
But that is getting as old as this board is. I think I will dig a hold in the backyard and lay it to rest. It may be time. Having tried everything else I decided to try backdating the ethernet drivers from Nvidia. I FINALLY found that the original driver for Vista 64 actually worked! That driver is dated 1/15/2007 and version number is 65.5.5.0 I have been using that ever since and so far not a single problem - go figure - a 5 year old Vista 64 driver works.
On the Nvidia website that driver is: nforce680isliwinvista6415.00englishwhql and yes, the '680' in the driver name is incorrect for ther 650i chipset in the P5n-E SLI mobo but it works.
