I'm having the exact same problem. I download MATLAB 2014a (for 64-bit Linux) from the University of Alberta web store, and I cannot find my activation key anywhere. Apparently it's supposed to be provided to me with my download, but. It's just not. I can get as far as downloading the MATLAB zip, which appears to contain everything that I should need to install 2014a. I've opened the Installer, and once I get to the License Selection window, I'm stuck.
Under 'Select a license,' I have one license to choose from - but this is one that I've had for years and am using at a different workplace.
