Just wanted to post my install experience with Kubuntu 8.04 Hardy on my laptop Sony Vaio VGN-NR160E (Intel 82801H ICH8 Family). Searched the forums for solution, somebody mentioned another Sony model with same problems. Recommendation was to ensure mixer volume is up and try the other output / channels cause sound might be controlled by mic, etc. Sure enough mine was controlled by an output with a mic jack but labeled with 'Front'. Other than that, all other features (wireless network, bluetooth) are working fine.
