Does anyone have - or have experience with the product for PowerBooks - a Shinza 'ZeroShock 15-inch MacBook Pro Sleeve'? I decided to order the 'basic' Booqbag Python XM - as the sleeve for the MBP is not currently shipping - and in searching for a sleeve I found Shinza.
Elecom Zeroshock Shock Absorption Inner Bag For Macbook Pro
The tech specs certainly look good - and the Shinza site looks. Interesting (I'll spend some time looking around it later this evening. I'm just not certain I'm certainly hoping the Booqbag lives up to its reputation - I was (and am) a bit put off by advertising that is almost outright elitist (Apple is much more subtle PC users are lemmings - but the Python XM has a tagline 'Not for everyone.' Repeated a couple of times.
I hope it's for 'ones' who want a good backpack-style bag for a laptop computer that's, well, 'not for everyone' either. Well, I received my 'Shinza 'ZeroShock 15-inch MacBook Pro Sleeve' about an hour ago (a day ahead of schedule). According to the packaging it's actually made in China by a company named 'Elecom' and, according to the packaging is 'Ideal for Apple PowerBook G4 15.2'.however it has an almost glove-like fit for the MBP and though I've not tested its touted 'Super Shock Absorption' (heeding the warning 'Do not intentionally test this product by bending, twisting or otherwise damaging it') I am more than pleased with it. It fits my homemade 'combo' needs perfectly - fits into the Booqbag Python XM perfectly with protection that the '15-17' dimensions leave a lot of room for play. It's also MUCH snugger (much, much snugger) than the Incase sleeve that I bought from my dealer (and which I'm going to return) AND it has a small little 'convenient inner pocket' which is perfect for my REMOTE and for a single ExpressCard/34 Firewire 800 card (well, for my remote - as my ExpressCard/34 Firewire 800 card is just a thing of dreams just now. I am also wondering if this case is, indeed, specially manufactured to fit the MBP - as I said, the fit is almost glove-like, but then the measurement specs of the 15' G4 PB aren't THAt far off from the MPB - the MBP is.1' thinner,.4' wider, and.1' deeper than its look-alike cousin (according to the specs in Mactracker) so if it is the same back there would be less 'play' in the sleeve, for the most part.
I'll give it a full trial/trail run this weekend - thus far I'm as pleased as punch. Would like to hear from others as you receive your sleeves so that others won't think my glowing review is simply an early St.
